Our Club supports and administers the annual Rotary Junior Community Award.
This Award is presented to children who complete a range of activities successfully during their final year of primary school education. The activities are designed to give children a wide range of experiences in their local community. The Award is non competitive and designed for children of all mental and physical abilities.
The aims of the Award are;
- To raise the level of knowledge in children of the range of values in their community.
- To give a greater understanding of what makes a community work.
- To provide an opportunity for children to experience the satisfaction of community service
- To give children an opportunity to see and understand their own potential value to the community regardless of academic, physical or other abilities.
Through this program children develop leadership skills, self-confidence and self-worth, knowledge and life-skills, as well as positive social values.
The Rotary Junior Community Awards program is open to all Primary School students completing their final year. Currently our Club has students from Newhaven Primary School and Wonthaggi Primary School engaged in the program.
If you would like to know more about this great program for youth, please contact us. We would be very happy to extend this program across more schools in our area.
