The San Remo Rotary Art and Photographic Show

10th - 13th March 2017

Welcome to Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo Art and Photographic Show Home Page

Our next Show is from Friday 10th March to Monday 13th March 2017.

The Rotary Art Show provides a unique opportunity for artists to come together and display their works, compete for recognition among peers and gain feedback from acclaimed artists. It is a chance for artists to gain exposure and offer their works for sale. During the four-day show over 10% of the works have historically been sold.

The Phillip Island and San Remo Art and Photographic Show is a keenly anticipated event within the artistic community across the Bass Coast and beyond. With the standard of judges and public demonstrations by acclaimed artists we hope for even more than the usual significant interest in this event. It is an aim of the organising committee to put San Remo on the ‘Arts Map’ and showcase to the world artistic excellence across many mediums.

2017 heralds the 25th running of the Art and Photographic Show.

Continuing the legacy begun by the San Remo Lions Club, the Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo has hosted the show since 2009. Like all great community events it is the partnerships with community members and community minded organisations that make the events successful. Fully run by volunteers the show presents over 600 works for viewing and purchase over the long weekend in March.

A gala opening event will be hosted to appropriately celebrate the 25th San Remo Art and Photographic Show on Friday evening of the 10th March 2017. A sponsor is currently being sort for this event. However, the San Remo Lions Club will again provide light lunches and refreshments from Saturday through to Monday.

2017 Art Show: Continuing on from our 2015 success, our 2017 event is shaping up to be bigger and better than any before it.

Acclaimed artist David Taylor has agreed again to provide us with his knowledge and skill. Not only has David agreed to conduct another demonstration, he has sourced a world-class art judge in Julian Bruere.

Julian is one of the 20 Melbourne Painters and has judged a number of prestigious art shows around the globe. He is a world-class painter in his own right. In addition to having a number of works on show, Julian will also be conducting a demonstration. Highly acclaimed artists Diana Edwards and David Taylor who have displayed their works around the world will also be conducting demonstrations during the weekend. These along with Adrian Johnson works will be presented to the winners of the raffle, which will accompany the event.

Youth and the Arts: 2017 is a special year for the Phillip Island and San Remo Art and Photographic Show as it will present the inaugural Youth Arts Scholarship and provide Master-class Workshops to a limited number of local young artists.

Young local art students are invited to display their works and the winner, as judged by Philip Faulks, will be awarded a two-year scholarship (up to $6,000) to attend an appropriate arts-based education facility, funded by the Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo. In addition to the scholarship, the winner and highly acclaimed entrants will be invited to participate in a series of master-class workshops hosted by Diana Edwards and David Taylor. This is an amazing opportunity for youth in our community seeking to pursue an interest in the Arts.

More details on the Youth Award will be made available shortly.

We sincerely thank our major sponsor of this community event. If you need any financial services we highly recommend you visit our local community bank; the Bendigo Community Bank. Without their generous support this event would not be able to achieve its objectives.
